Streets of the GDR shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall (16 photos)
For almost forty years, a small cardboard box contained photographs of life in Halle, an industrial city in the former East Germany. Henk Kosche's black and white photographs taken before the fall of the Berlin Wall convey the atmosphere of a world balanced on the edge of resilience and humility, endurance and beauty. These newly discovered treasures bring life to a city shrouded in factory smoke.
