A man photographed a “fairytale moose” in the forest (5 photos)
Have you ever taken a photo that you wanted to share with everyone? Agree, the value of such photographs is often given by their rarity and difficulty in “capturing the moment.” Thomas Merch recently succeeded!
A Norwegian wildlife photographer recently managed to capture a very rare piebald moose. The animal amazes the imagination with its unique appearance. The piebald moose, which usually lives and hunts in the province of Buskerud, Norway, is very shy. However, Thomas Merch managed to capture the spotted animal eating.
Merch received a tip from a friend who had seen a rare moose in the wilderness.
“I have a friend who keeps horses there, and the elk was in his summer pasture for several days. I immediately went there because he could disappear at any moment!”
When the photographer arrived at the scene, the elk was eating vegetation in deep snow.
The animal appeared healthy and was "nice and fat." Another local resident in the area also spotted the moose while heading to work. Ian Eira said: “This animal does not look like a moose. He's almost as fat as a pig, with a belly like a cow."

After several days of photographing, Merkh returned home and then wanted to take another trip to the moose to show his children. Alas, by that time the animal had already disappeared!
“He became quite a celebrity, but I think he did a good job of hiding from people. My children and I went to look for him today, but he was nowhere to be found,” Merh wrote on his social media page. “He has eaten well and now looks like he will get through the winter in peace. For now we have to keep our fingers crossed that he stays off the highways and railways."
Merch regularly shares stunning wildlife images on his social media and says he has a "passion for Norwegian wildlife".
