Pre-revolutionary Russia in the color autochromes of Pyotr Ivanovich Vedenisov (20 photos)
These stunning photographs of pre-revolutionary Russia were taken by amateur photographer Pyotr Ivanovich Denisov (1866-1937). After graduating from the Moscow Conservatory, he went to live in Yalta, where he worked as a pianist. Vedenisov was deputy chairman of the Yalta branch of the Russian Musical Society, founded the Yalta Religious and Philosophical Society, and was fond of meteorology - but his main passion was photography.
The photographs show, among others, Vedenisov’s wife Vera, her mother, Elena Frantsevna Basileva, Andrei and Sofya Kozakov and their children Vera, Tanya, Natasha, Kolya and Lisa.
