Photographer Recreates Iconic Group B Rally Footage Using Lego (30 Photos)
British photographer Dominic Fraser, who works as a journalist, whiled away his time in self-isolation by creating iconic Group B rally scenes using Lego. He published the resulting photos on his Instagram.
It took Dominic several hours to create one such unique shot. Thanks to the designer, he was able to recreate the picture as accurately as possible. In other words, he built not only the sports car itself, but also the surroundings. We are talking about pit stop areas and spectators. Some shots show how spectacularly dirt or even snow flies from under the wheels. When creating these shots, the author used earth and flour.
One of the most famous cars of “Group B”, which was repeated by the photographer, can be called the 1985 Audi Sport Quattro S1. This car was produced in a limited edition of only 200 copies. Under the hood, the legend had a five-cylinder engine with a capacity of 500 horsepower. It is worth noting that the car stood out from the rest with its unusual aerodynamic body kit and weight of less than 1100 kg.
The races themselves took place from 1982 to 1986. Despite its popularity, the Group B rally was canceled at the end of 1986 due to a number of major accidents that ended in disaster.
