Musical genres such as jazz, rhythm and blues and soul appeared in America under the influence of African-American culture. These rare photographs taken in the soul clubs of Memphis and New York are the work of outstanding photographer David Reed. Beginning with the Sunday Times magazine in 1969, Reed photographed for the magazine until 1990. He is still busy in his favorite profession.

These photographs were included in the Sunday Times magazine in the early 70s. By that time, the soul music genre, which originated in the 50s, was at the peak of its popularity. Soul became more and more diverse, absorbing features of various styles and pouring into micro-genres.

The author of the photographs is the outstanding photographer David Reed. During his long career, he has worked with many legendary publications such as The Observer Magazine, The Telegraph Magazine and Nova Magazine. Today the maestro continues his brilliant career as a photojournalist and documentarian.
