Mumbai Stories: Merging Traditional Indian Wedding Fashion with Modern Trends (62 Photos)
Tarun Khiwal is India's leading internationally recognized fashion photographer. His experimental style and artistry ushered in a new era in fashion photography in India. The master never obeyed generally accepted “rules”, but created his own. In his works, the Indian flavor “speaks” in a modern language. Here is Indian bridal fashion through the lens of Tarun Khiwala.
Instead of following Western trends, Khiwal created his own unique style, drawing inspiration from personal experiences: memorable moments from childhood, travel, celebrations, culture and traditions that shaped him.
In each photograph one can discern the master’s signature style, his pride in his native culture and traditions. He combines sophistication with the technical and artistic sophistication of modern photography.
Tarun Khiwal is the first and only Indian photographer to be awarded the prestigious Hasselblad Masters Award, and the only Indian to have his work included in the annual calendar of leading Swiss studio equipment manufacturer Broncolor in 2012. His work was also featured in a book by renowned photographer and writer Tom Eng.
