Sinking Sky: a guy recreated his nightmares in powerful photo manipulations (13 photos)
Since childhood, German photographer J. Flynn Newton had dreams with the same scenario - a tsunami destroyed everything around with huge waves. In his apocalyptic nightmares, the elements spared nothing, destroying cities and natural landscapes. The nightmares did not stop until Newton came up with his own “therapy” - he decided to recreate his dreams in photographic works.
“With the skills of photography and Photoshop, I tried my therapy - visualizing dreams where the elements destroy the world of my dreams,” writes the photographer. “The basis of each work from the “Sinking Sky” series were photographs from my travels around the world, be it the Scottish highlands ", the Arizona landscape, the city of Houston, the French coast or the Italian village. All of them were captured by the water element."
Surprisingly, his signature therapy worked. Newton admitted that after he transferred his nightmares to photographs, the dreams that had haunted him since childhood stopped occurring to him. Dream scenarios have become calmer and more peaceful. The series "Drowning Sky" ("DrOWNing SKY") took part and won several photo competitions.
