Photos of dogs abandoned by the Spaniards after the end of the hunting season (25 photos)
The Spanish Galgo is a breed of dog whose fate is mostly tragic. The Spaniards breed these greyhounds en masse for the hare hunting season, but the animals live in tiny, dark and dirty barns, without even the opportunity to go for a walk. After the end of the season, between 50 and 100 thousand greyhounds are killed or abandoned, which has become a frightening tradition.
Photographer Travis Patnode is actively involved in saving galgos. In October 2012, Lina appeared in his family, and then he began to learn more about the difficult life of Spanish greyhounds. In June 2013, Travis and his wife created a special group to help these dogs, and just a month later they went to Spain, took several Galgos from shelters and found good homes for them. During his trips, Patnode arranges photo sessions for the animals and posts their pictures online so that they quickly find a new home.
