On the border of Chile and Argentina in the Patagonian Andes (Chile's Aysen region) off the shores of Lake General Carrera (Lago General Carrera) there are the marble caves Las Cavernas de Marmol.
The local name for the caves is Marble Cathedral and they are located approximately in the middle of the lake, on the Chilean side. In Argentina, Lake General Carrera is called Buenos Aires. This is one of the deepest lakes in the world, its maximum depth is 590 meters. It is of glacial origin and is located at an altitude of 217 meters above sea level, surrounded by the Andes mountain ranges.
