Photographer Alexandre Buisse (63 photos)
The first time he took a camera with him was when he was 20 years old, and since then he has not let it out of his hands. The main reason why he started filming was the desire to capture that indescribable beauty that can only be seen by making a difficult journey along mountain paths (and more often without any paths). But over time, people began to play no less a role in his works than nature. This is especially true, of course, of his video works, which have become a logical continuation of his photographs.
Alexander started out exclusively as an amateur, but quickly became widely known in narrow circles, and then not only “among his own.” His photographs have been used by prominent travel companies (Black Dimond, for example), tourism organizations (the American Alpine Club, Jagged Globe), larger organizations (the Swedish Ministry of Tourism) and the unexpected (Royal Bank of Scandinavia and the European Parliament).
Buis has a huge number of awards for both his photography and video work, and is considered one of the most respected young photographers in the world of adventure photography. Alexander can also be called a theorist of extreme photography - his articles on how, in his opinion, one should photograph in the mountains are very successful. And just recently, in April 2011, he published an entire book dedicated to this (published on our portal) - “Remote Exposure – a guide to hiking and climbing photography.”
“Even as an amateur, I felt like I was on the right track when I packed my camera before the climb. Now a camera is no less important to me than an ice axe. I also photograph in cities, but my heart belongs to extreme photography, especially if you need to shoot where it’s high, cold and scary.”
