On April 10, 2009, the opening of the exhibition “Polaroid” and the presentation of the book “The Polaroid Book” by the publishing house Taschen took place at the Book Cafe bookstore of the Design Gallery/bulthaup in St. Petersburg. Over 10 famous photographers took part in the exhibition of photographs taken on Polaroid, such as Andrey Chezhin, Alexey Kurbatov, Alexander Lyashko, Dmitry Andreev, Pavel Ulyanov and others. In addition to experienced artists, Book Cafe also invited a number of young aspiring photographers to participate in the exhibition , conducting photographic experiments with Polaroid instant photography. In February 2008, Polaroid announced that it would cease production of instant photography film. Polaroid photography has become a rare, endangered species. The first exhibition of Polaroid photographs in St. Petersburg at the Book Cafe, summing up the Polaroid era, promises to be an even more important event.
