At various times, gold was used not only for making jewelry and coins, but also for equipment parts, pen nibs, glass coloring, and was even used as medicine.

This artist found another non-standard use for metal, becoming the founder of an unusual movement in art.

Stephanie Rew was born in Edinburgh in 1971 and left the city in 1990 to study art at Duncan Jordonstone College of Art. After graduation, she returned to her hometown.

He now lives with his family and works as an artist in his studio in the Leith Shore area of Edinburgh.

Steph began to enjoy drawing and painting in early childhood, demonstrating good abilities for her age. Drawing photographs from memory was child's play. But when Stephanie entered high school, it became obvious that she should study art. She went to college and became interested in figurative painting. In addition, the artist also began sketching with the Dundee Repertory Dance Firm during rehearsals, thus beginning a relationship with dance.

The girl collected 50 unique charcoal drawings of her dancers and received an offer from the John Lewis Partnership to display them in a store on Oxford Avenue. The funds raised in this way helped organize her first solo exhibition.

A separate direction in Ryu’s work was the creation of figurative portraits, mainly of women, with voluminous textured details, which are created using tempera and gold leaf. Such luxurious design elements add completeness and aristocracy to portraits, making the images especially deep, inspiring and dramatic.
