Hubert Robert (French Hubert Robert, May 22, 1733, Paris - April 15, 1808, Paris) was a landscape painter of French neoclassicism, a novelist who became famous for his paintings depicting ancient ruins and the idealized nature of the Roman Campagna. The artist received the nickname “Robert des Ruines”.
