Konstantin Yakovlevich Kryzhitsky was born on May 17, 1858 in the city of Kyiv.

From childhood, Konstantin Kryzhitsky showed an ability to draw. The young artist studied at the Kyiv drawing school of Nikolai Ivanovich Murashko.

After graduating from the Kiev Real School and receiving a general education, Konstantin Kryzhitsky was enrolled in the Imperial Academy of Arts in 1877.

At the Academy, Konstantin Yakovlevich studied with a remarkable artist and teacher, Professor Baron Mikhail Konstantinovich Klodt, under whose guidance the young artist studied fine arts.

During his years of study at the Academy of Arts, Konstantin Kryzhitsky received gold and silver medals. In 1884, the artist graduated from the academic course with the title of class artist of the first degree.

In 1889, Kryzhitsky received an honorary degree as an academician of landscape painting.

The main direction of artistic activity of Konstantin Yakovlevich Kryzhitsky was landscape.

The artist worked not only with oil paints, but also with pencil and watercolor. The artist drew motives for his landscapes mainly from the picturesque nature of the Kyiv province, as well as the outskirts of the city of St. Petersburg.
