Not costumes, but works of art: winners of the world design competition World of Wearable Art 2023 (15 photos)
World of Wearable Art (WOW) is an international design competition accepting entries from over forty countries. It presents “wearable art,” that is, clothing that is created primarily as a work of art, and not as an everyday item or look for going out.
Such models are created in a single copy and, based on the results of selection, participate in a gala concert, which has the character of a theatrical performance, similar to a mixture of Broadway and Cirque du Soleil.
The jury evaluates costumes based on the criteria of durability, safety, comfort and effectiveness on stage. Designers from all over the world get the opportunity to show the boundlessness of their imagination, their skills in applying professional knowledge and modern technologies. Below we have shown the creations of those participants who were awarded the prize in 2023.
