Kent Wallis, born January 10, 1945, in Ogden, Utah, began his formal art career quite late compared to most other artists.
Personal charm, purity and quiet joy are characteristic of the works of Kent R. Wallis, which speaks of a simple, unclaimed love for color and form.
Impressionism became a path in the art world, awakening the artist to this world of light that captivated the great artists of the 19th century. Now, with an abundance of poetic inspiration, he creates his sunny canvases.
But it was not always so. Twenty years ago, Kent Wallis was a business professional who had never picked up a paintbrush.
But his fascination with other works convinced his wife that painting was a hidden talent waiting to be expressed.
At her urging, he began to engage in his hobby at night, which turned out to be a lifelong request. Within six months, the artist abandoned business for art, launching a career that has delighted collectors across the country.
“Having studied impressionism for many years, I found that what really excites me is color, in particular colors mixed with sunlight.”
“I don't look at painting as an intellectual process. My approach is more of a feeling than a thinking process - I just feel my way through it. It is about conveying your feelings to the viewer, and the dividends from talent are the enjoyment of nature. I don't feel particularly proud of my successes... I'm just happy that I paint, just like many other artists. But if the country has turned away from impressionism, I still continue to create paintings.”
Kent R. Wallis is currently a member of the prestigious Society of American Impressionists as well as the Plein Air Society of American Artists.
