The group of artists “Old Town” was formed in 1981. The members of the group - Yan Antonyshev, Dmitry Egorovsky, Nastya Slepysheva - chose landscapes, images and myths of old St. Petersburg and other cities of the world as the subject of their work. Whether it is St. Petersburg, Paris or Florence, they are interested, first of all, in the City, which is uncharacteristic of guidebooks and main tourist routes, the environment of a non-ceremonial and unofficial City, which, nevertheless, largely determines its cultural appearance and the appearance of the people living in it. The group's artists work in various genres, techniques and styles, but are united by one theme. They perceive the City as a living organism that feels, hears, speaks and comes into contact with those living in it. And he, responding to the attentive gaze of the artist, to the work of his hand, which gave him new life, miraculously transforms and reveals his face. The city landscape becomes a portrait of the City, to which the artists want to invite viewers to meet.
