Born in 1963 in Sverdlovsk. In 1983 he graduated from the painting and pedagogical department of the Sverdlovsk Art School. In 1991 - Department of Art History at Ural State University. Since 1991, he has been involved in museum design and interior design.
He prefers easel painting (landscape, portrait, still life genres) and graphics. He loves to paint city landscapes. Over the past 15 years, he has held more than 30 personal exhibitions and is a regular participant in collective city and regional art exhibitions. The artist’s paintings are in permanent exhibitions in museums in Yekaterinburg, Pyshma, Alapaevsk, and other cities in the Ural region, as well as in private collections in Russia, Europe and the USA. Large collections of paintings were acquired by the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the residence of the governor of the Sverdlovsk region. A. Efremov’s paintings were published in a number of books on the art of the Urals, several series of calendars were published, and in 2008 a personal album of the artist’s paintings was published.
