An Investigation Has Begun in London Against Banksy Due to New Graffiti (3 photos)
London police have launched an investigation into anonymous British street artist Banksy after his new graffiti of a judge smashing a protester with a gavel appeared on the Royal Courts of Justice building.
Banksy's new work is being investigated as a potential criminal offense. According to the publication, if the artist, who has remained anonymous for over 25 years, is brought to trial, he will be required to publicly disclose his name.
The Ministry of Justice announced that the graffiti will be removed from the walls of the Royal Courts of Justice building.
A new Banksy mural appeared on the Royal Courts of Justice building on Monday, September 8.
It depicts a judge hitting a protester on the ground with a gavel. Blood spatter is also visible. The mural has already been covered with plastic sheets and metal barriers.
The artist confirmed the authenticity of the work on his Instagram page.
According to the BBC, the mural appeared two days after 900 people were arrested at a protest against the banning of Palestine Action in London.
Banksy is hiding his real name. According to one theory, his name is Robin Gunningham. Scientists reached this conclusion after a series of studies using geoprofiling. Another theory holds that Banksy is Robert Del Naja, one of the founders of the band Massive Attack. ![]()
