We are accustomed to artists who create their works using paints, pencils and various dyes. Also, people of art do not neglect improvised objects that can be taken apart and transformed into something completely new and beautiful, carrying a hidden meaning.

This is all familiar and understandable to us. But have you ever heard of artists who create their work using nature?

This artistic movement is called land art. This is a revolutionary movement that originated in the United States in the 1960s. Represents a thoughtful, conceptual approach to creating art that uses natural materials. The main message of artists working in this style is to reject the commercialization of art, as well as to draw attention to environmental issues.

As land art developed, artists began to allow themselves a little more. Some of them could resort not only to natural materials, but also artificial ones, which, of course, did not harm the environment. Modern land art also does not hesitate to use earth-moving equipment. This usually happens in extremely rare cases.

Let's look at some of the most striking works of land art artists.

Sculpture "Sultan Pit Pony", UK

This large-scale work was created by Welsh artist Mick Pets. Stones, earth and more than 60 thousand tons of coal were used to make it. The art object was made in honor of the horses that previously worked in underground mines in these places.

The amazingly colorful composition was created by the artist Christo in 1983. To implement it, he used a floating pink polypropylene film. The goal of the project is to show that people in Miami live between land and water.

Surprisingly, the use of artificial material when creating the object had a positive impact on the environment. While dismantling the structure, workers caught more than 40 tons of debris from the water.
