Embroidery is a delicate art at the best of times, requiring great precision and patience, as well as a steady hand and eye for detail.
The Russian artist known as Krista Decor takes it to the next level by embroidering her intricate designs onto a thin fabric called tulle. Tulle is a lightweight mesh that is so beautiful that it has an almost transparent appearance that makes the embroidery appear as if it is suspended in the air.
Krista's embroidery technique was forged during an internship at Valentin Yudashkin's fashion house in Russia and is inspired by nature. “What I like most about working with embroidery is floral and animalistic patterns. Simply put, it is the world of nature, flowers and animals,” she writes. “When creating decor, I use flat and volumetric embroidery, which requires materials such as wool yarn and cotton thread, beads, pearls, natural stones, plaster, straw embroidery and silk ribbon. When these materials are combined, a new design emerges.”
