Brothers Alexey Petrovich (b. September 11, 1925) and Sergei Petrovich (b. November 10, 1922) Tkachev were born in the village of Chuchunovka, Bryansk region. They are People's Artists of the USSR, full members of the Academy of Arts.

A.P. Tkachev entered the Moscow Secondary Art School in 1939, and in 1951 graduated from the Faculty of Painting of the Moscow State Art Institute. IN AND. Surikov (MGHI) with the artist G.G. Ryazhsky.

S.P. Tkachev studied at the Vitebsk Art School (1938 -1941), participated in the Great Patriotic War, and was seriously wounded. In 1952 he graduated from the painting department of the same institute. IN AND. Surikov (workshops of S.V. Gerasimov and D.K. Mochalsky).
