Christopher Jenkins is a contemporary American artist who specializes in the transportation of goods by rail. He has worked in the transport industry for more than 30 years, so he knows first-hand the favorite topic of his work. Its main task is to capture the essence of a scene or car in such a way as to convey it to the viewer, without being distracted by the details. Almost all of Christopher's paintings are aimed at creating a sense of movement.
Paintings are created using traditional painting methods using a variety of high quality oil paints, brushes or other tools, including knife work. The entire process of creating a painting is as follows: the artist begins with several pencil sketches made from different angles and distances. Once the artist has confidence in the correctness of the chosen approach, a solid plan is born and Christopher makes a more detailed sketch with, as yet, fuzzy details and a choice of shades that correspond to the design. Then, working on a pre-painted canvas, he begins to paint, usually first completing the monochrome elements that will later be painted, and then, if necessary, reproducing the necessary details and lettering (railroad signs or locomotive lettering). Due to several layers of oil paint, the time spent on a particular painting can be more than one month. Christopher Jenkins's work has been exhibited several times and published in magazines. Today they are part of some private collections.
