Ukrainian painter and graphic artist, one of the brightest representatives of modern surrealism, Andrey Poteryailo was born in Kyiv in 1974. He studied at the Kyiv Republican Art School, attended the private studio of analytical drawing of Nikolai Aleksandrovich Shkaraput. At the age of 17, he moved with his family to New York, where he attended classes at the Pratt Institute in New York, studied at the Reitveld Academy in Amsterdam and at the International School of Graphics (Scuola di Grafica Internazionale) in Venice. It was Venice that captured his imagination. There, in Italy, from fellow art students Andrei received the pseudonym "Mancino", meaning left-handed - in Italian.
