Josef Kriehuber (German: Josef Kriehuber; December 15, 1800, Vienna - May 30, 1876, ibid.) - Austrian artist.
From the age of thirteen, Joseph Kriehuber studied in the drawing class of the Vienna Academy of Arts. In 1818-1821. served as a drawing teacher for the Polish princes Sangushko. Then he returned to Vienna, where in 1826 he began working in the relatively new technique of lithography. Soon Kriehuber became the most popular and highly paid portrait painter in Vienna.
Since 1860, member of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts.
He owns about 3,000 lithographic portraits, including Emperor Francis I of Austria, Count Metternich, Joseph Radetzky, composers and musicians Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Niccolo Paganini, Johann Nestroy, Franz Grillparzer and many other celebrities.
He also painted in oils and watercolors, and worked in drawing techniques.
