Eric Bulatov and Oleg Vasiliev are among the greatest artists of our time. Their works are included in the collections of major museums in the world, such as the Center for Contemporary Art. Georges Pompidou in Paris, Ludwig Museum in Cologne, Museum of Art in Basel, Zimmerli Museum in New York. Since 1959, they have illustrated children's books for the Detgiz and Malysh publishing houses. Their creative tandem successfully existed for more than 30 years. Since 1959, Oleg Vasiliev and Erik Bulatov have worked together to illustrate children's books for the publishing houses "Detgiz" and "Malysh". Their creative tandem successfully existed for thirty-three years. During this time they illustrated more than 100 books. Vasiliev left for America in 1990, where he lives to this day. Bulatov has been in Paris since 1992.
“We made money in the fall and winter together with Oleg. I can’t say that we were burdened by this. It was interesting. We made children’s books just the two of us. We developed an artist who was not Oleg Vasiliev or Erik Bulatov. It was someone else. "All our books are illustrated by this artist. In total, in thirty years we have made more than a hundred books. And in the spring and summer we scattered to our workshops, and everyone was absolutely free."
