Eugène Galien-Laloue (1854–1941) is the most “Parisian” of the French artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Being an unsociable person and having, according to rumors, a difficult character, he devoted himself, his entire life, to one passion - painting. Still very young, having returned from the war of 1870, Gallien-Laloux decides to make a living with his art. He travels around Paris on a bicycle, never leaving his sketchbooks.
He quickly becomes famous. Painting will always bring him good income. His paintings are purchased in advance. They are in great demand among international collectors, who enjoy his “little gouaches” dedicated to Paris. English and American collectors confidently classify Eugene Gallien-Lalou as one of the leading artists of Belle Epoque.
