Like many of his contemporaries, Van den Eyken specialized in painting domestic animals, often in cute and playful situations.
Charles was born on April 17, 1859 in Belgium into a family of artists. Grandfather, Frans Van den Eyken, and father, Charles Van den Eyken, were artists. First, Van den Eyken studied painting with them, and then continued his studies at the Academy of Brussels with J. Stevens, an animal artist.
Charles was a member of the L Essor a group, which was founded in 1876. He regularly exhibited at the Brussels Salon and was awarded numerous medals.
Died in 1923.
