Artist Victor Nizovtsev has been painting for 15 years, a considerable period of time, and at the same time he consciously lives in search. He strives to develop a pictorial system based on contrasting composition and the contrast of light and dark colors, like the images of good and evil in a fairy tale. At the same time, he uses the language of symbols, both his own, invented, and taken from folk sign culture. He speaks to us in the language of the subconscious. And the result is an original, naive, philosophical, unlike anything else painting by Viktor Nizovtsev. The images born in his head are unusual, incomprehensible, but close to us, because everyone experienced the charm of fairy tales in childhood and can, if desired, experience this feeling again.
The folklore of the Vyatichi, the Ural tales of Bazhov, examples of world art, even the philosophy of the ancient Greeks, which he admires, are the components of Nizovtsev’s creativity, multiplied by a contemplative and philosophical perception of the world.
Looking at this middle-aged, peculiar man, you begin to wonder if he knows mermaids and witches? Isn't he walking along the banks of an enchanted river on moonlit nights, looking like Grandfather the Forester?
Years will pass, many flashy names of salon and expensive artists will be forgotten. The living and spiritual creativity of sincere, hardworking artists who love this world will remain in memory. And one of them is Viktor Nizovtsev.
