Carl Reichert was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1836, the son of the portrait and animal painter, Heinrich Reichert. He studied at The Academy of Drawing in Graz with J. Turner and E.C. Moser.
After this, Reichert went to study in Munich and in 1866 he spent a year in Rome.
From 1869 to 1910 Reichert worked and exhibited in Vienna. Later he moved to Graz.
Karl Reichert died in Graz, Austria, in 1918.
Today his works are in private and public collections, including the Museum of Baden-Baden.
