Barbara Reid
Canadian artist Barbara Reid creates wonderful plasticine illustrations.
Where her brothers wave their brushes, she rolls out plasticine.
Barbara was born and lived all her life in Toronto. Since childhood, she wanted to become a writer, but she went to study illustrator at the Ontario College of Art and Design. During her studies, she made her first illustration from plasticine, which everyone around her really liked. This is how she discovered her technique. Her illustrations are funny, expressive and flexible, she uses clay with the ease of a painter and the habit of a sculptor.
She herself says that plasticine illustrations should be very pleasant for children - if a pictorial picture is not clear how it was made, with plasticine everything is simple and clear - almost all children do the same.
Irma Gruenholz
Spanish artist Irma Gruenholz makes interesting plasticine illustrations for books.
I think we all remember the plasticine cartoons that appeared on our screens so often in childhood. To create cartoons like this, you need to make a lot of plasticine figures and plasticine decorations in order to then put it all into action. The work of Spanish artist Irma Gruenholz resembles frozen frames from such plasticine cartoons.
Illustrator Irma Gruenholz creates her bright and cheerful 3D models from plasticine, as well as regular and polymer clay. The artist herself admits that she is ready to use other materials that allow her to work with volume. She enjoys exploring and exploring the possibilities of each project, working with all elements and textures. The themes of Irma Gruenholz's miniature installations are varied: Indian and African everyday scenes, illustrations about princesses, ladies-in-waiting and princes, stories about wise and clever mice and stupid cats, scenes from everyday life (a girl working at the computer or a grandmother preparing lunch for her grandson) . Once the detailed and colorful plasticine world is sculpted, the Spanish artist uses appropriate lighting and photographs the installation as it comes to life.
Photos of plasticine installations by the Spaniard Irma Gruenholz are published in books, magazines, and newspapers. She also creates various three-dimensional models from polymer clay for clients to order for presentations and exhibitions.
