Alex Queral is an American artist who lives in Philadelphia. Known for the fact that for the last 14 years he has been carving telephone directories. Fourteen years ago, Alex was looking for wood for his new sculpture when he suddenly noticed a telephone directory lying around. A spark flew through my head, but why isn’t this material for a flight of fancy?

Alex draws a sketch on paper and then transfers it all onto the phone book using a razor blade. Sometimes the artist uses black acrylic paints in his works. Painstaking work, the maximum that comes out is two portraits a month.
