James Milford Zornes is a contemporary American artist who passed away recently. Most of Zorns's creative heritage is watercolors (although he also worked in oil, tempera, and ink). First of all, they allow us to draw analogies between his works and the works of his compatriot C. Burchfield. Based on their stylistic and certain “ideological” similarities, Zorns can be classified as a visionary (for more details on this direction, see the handout dedicated to the work of Charles Burchfield), although his works, of course, are more “traditional” (in the sense that they closer to the realistic direction) for American watercolor painting of the twentieth century.
