Vladimir Stroozer was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg in 1979 as one of the best students. He received the degree of Master of Fine Arts and Architecture. After studying, his talented works were banned by the Soviet Ministry of Culture, considering his paintings to be “political in origin”; as a result, he was arrested and sent to a camp. His works were confiscated and the studio was closed. But he continued to sketch and paint even while in prison.
By the end of 1980, perestroika loosened the strict censorship of political prisoners, and Vladimir was released in 1991. He went to the United States with his wife. He was given the opportunity to freely express himself in his works. His paintings have been shown in several New York and Bay Area galleries. He currently lives in Florida with his wife and daughter.
