Inducing calm and sleep: photos of lavender fields in the south of France
Samir Belhamra is a self-taught photographer and graphic designer. He recently visited the commune of Valensole, located in southern France. From late June to early August, lavender fields bloom there, which Samir wanted to photograph. Here are some of his best works, and they are magnificent.
For many nature photographers, nothing is more inspiring than a field of flowers.
These magical purple fields, located in picturesque Valensole, look so idyllic and fairytale-like, as if they were painted by a skilled artist.
Lavender blooms once a year, usually from late June to early August. The photographer admitted that for him, lavender fields are not only some of the most beautiful places in France, but in the entire world.
Samir recently bought a drone and was now photographing the fields from above. Thanks to the different angles, the photos turned out amazing: it seems like you're just a little closer and you'll be able to smell the lilac sea of lavender!
Samir has been interested in photography for just over two years, but has already collaborated with many famous brands and featured his photos on numerous magazine pages.
To edit his photos, Samir uses Lightroom for light retouching and Photoshop to create the desired mood.
The most common type of lavender grown worldwide is English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia). It is grown for its high-quality oil. Lavender oil is commonly used in cosmetics and aromatherapy.
To create a climax and fully demonstrate the unreal beauty of this place, Belhamra begins filming from ground level, gradually raising his drone higher and higher, capturing more and more of the endless, even rows of flowers from different angles.
