Geography
The city is located between the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains. Downtown Denver is located on the east bank of the South Platte River. The area of the city is 401.3 km².
Story
Denver was founded in 1858 in Kansas Territory. In fact, it has existed since November 1861. By 1890, the population of Denver already exceeded 106 thousand people.
The city received the right to organize the Winter Olympic Games in 1976, but then refused to host them for environmental reasons.
