In total, about 800 caves are known in Crimea, 50 of which are declared natural monuments. One of the most cave-rich places in Crimea is Shater Mountain, also known as Chatyr-Dag, the second highest Crimean mountain range. It seems that this mountain range, separated from the main ones, rises above the entire Crimea. About 200 caves await you here, with depths ranging from one or two meters to more than 200... Most of the caves are accessible only to professional cavers with the help of special equipment; other caves, on the contrary, are easily accessible to unorganized tourists and, alas, are an example of human barbarism - in them you can find traces of human activity, garbage, inscriptions. All the stalactites and cave beauty have long been broken off and carried away by tourists greedy for souvenirs.
