Treasures of the Transcarpathian Museum (120 photos) (part 1)

The photo collection is made up of photographic reproductions of paintings from the Transcarpathian Art Museum, which is one of the most important cultural units of Ukraine. Materials for the collection are taken from the book-photo album “Transcarpathian Art Museum” (1984, “Mystery”). The museum was created on the basis of the Resolution of the People's Council of Transcarpathian Ukraine dated June 20, 1945; the premises of the Uzhgorod Castle, which were opened for viewing in 1948, were transferred for the exhibition. In 1990, the museum was named after People's Artist of the USSR, corresponding member of the Academy of Art of the USSR J.Y. Bokshaya.
Currently, the museum's collection includes more than 5 thousand exhibits. It consists of two sections: Russian art XVI - early. XXI centuries and foreign art of the XXI - XX centuries. Among the earliest attractions are iconographic works of the 17th – 18th centuries, which represent significant artistic value. The museum collection includes works by such outstanding artists: V. Tropinin, O. Kiprensky, I. Shishkin, N. Savrasov, T. Shevchenko, I. Aivazovsky. Among the outstanding masters of Western European painting: the representative of the Italian Renaissance Jacopo Palma, the Dutch Renaissance Lambert Lombard, the French romanticism Vernet Claude Joseph, the Italian classicism Alban Francesco, the early Dutch realism Cornelis Bega.
