Sculptor Demeter Chiparus (1886-1947). Bronze dance Art Deco (6 photos)
The Chiparusa sculptures are a classic manifestation of the Art Deco style of decorative sculpture in bronze and ivory. Traditionally, there are three factors influencing the master’s work: Diaghilev’s Russian Ballet, Egyptian art and, to a lesser extent, avant-garde art.
Artistic interest in Chiparus's works appeared in the 1970s, and since the 1990s. it is constantly increasing. In Russia, the largest collection of works by Chiparus is owned by the Russian House of Art Deco - the collection includes more than 100 works by the Romanian master.
