In Russia, the first postcards appeared in the early 1870s. But the first postcards were simple, unadorned postal forms. Illustrated postcards began to be published only towards the end of the 19th century. Unfortunately, there is no reliable data about the appearance of the first printed Russian illustrated postcard in Russia. To the famous collector from St. Petersburg I.S. Tagrin, as a result of a long search, managed to find a postcard dedicated to Moscow, on which the date and place were indicated: “Allowed by censorship Moscow 18.X1.1895.” This date is considered a kind of starting point for the first Russian publications of this kind.
