A photographer recreates the faces of famous people of the past using a neural network (14 photos)
Photographer Bas Unterwijk showed what famous historical figures and heroes of famous paintings might have looked like in real life, and artificial intelligence helped him with this.
We know many real and fictional famous people of the past only from portraits - photography had not yet been invented at that time. Some of them didn’t even have paintings left, only sculptures and descriptions of their appearance. It is almost impossible to understand exactly what these characters looked like in reality, but artificial intelligence can help you get a little closer to this. Dutch photographer Bas Unterwijk is busy turning Apollo, Lilith and Nefertiti into real people using neural networks. Well, sometimes a bit of his imagination helps him complete the portraits.
