Iceland from above (18 photos)
“When I travel, I take photographs. That’s why I travel” - this phrase from the Instagram of Hungarian photographer Gabor Nagy says a lot about him. To get where no one has been, to show what no one has seen - this is, perhaps, his second motto.
This selection is dedicated to the mountains and valleys of Iceland. Nagy visited the Eyjafjallajökull volcano and captured stunning landscapes from there. Now the giant is sleeping, and in 2010 it paralyzed half of the globe for almost two weeks. Some of the photos were taken while walking the famous 30-kilometer Fimmvörduhauls trail, where descents give way to ascents, and endless canyons covered with thick moss appear. Gabor would later write: “The intact beauty of the mountains, glaciers, wild glacial rivers and narrow valleys showed me something completely different from the mountains I had been in for the last 15 years.” We invite you to look at Iceland through his eyes.
