Do people need zoos? On the one hand, zoologists there carry out important work, preserving rare species, creating suitable conditions for life and reproduction. But this is not true everywhere. At the Bangladesh National Zoo in the country's capital, Dhaka, animals are kept in terrible conditions - tethered, in cramped cages, without food or water. Photographer Shafiqul Islam made a photo report about the suffering of animals at the Dhaka Zoo, hoping that someone would come to their aid.
