Damon Winter (December 24, 1974) was born in Elmira, New York.
Photojournalist, documentarian, engaged in travel photography. He has an insane amount of reporting on a variety of topics, including conflicts in Israel and Afghanistan, 9/11 in New York, the Olympic Games, etc. He conducted documentary filming in Vietnam, Cuba, Russia and India.
Worked for such publications as The Dallas Morning News, Newsweek, Magnum Photos, The Ventura County Star and The Indianapolis Star, Los Angeles Times.

Received awards from World Press Photo, Picturàs of the Year, Society of News Design, NPPA Best of Photojournalism, APME, and was named the NPPA Region 8 Photographer of the Year in 2002 and the California Press Photographer of the year in 2006. 2005 Pulitzer Prize (feature photography) for a photo series about victims of sexual violence in western Alaska. In 2009, Damon Winter received another award in the Feature Photography category for his series about Barack Obama's election campaign.
Winner of "Pictures of the Year International" 2011 in the category NEWSPAPER PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR - 1st place, MULTIMEDIA PORTFOLIO OF THE YEAR - Award of Excellence, FEATURE PICTURE STORY - 3rd place.
