In the 20s, this painter was almost the most popular in Britain and the USA. And reproductions of his paintings decorated the walls of every fourth house.

Maxfield Parrish (1870 - 1966) is an American artist who became famous for his unique style, which organically combined realism and a direction that today would be defined as fantasy.

At birth, the boy received the name Frederick, but as an adult, he changed it to Maxfield. This was his mother's maiden name, which remained as a creative pseudonym.

After graduating from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Parrish focused on illustrating books and working with various magazines. And having made a name and having earned enough money for a comfortable life, he moved away from mesmerizing fantasy and completely switched to landscape painting, to which he devoted himself with all passion and depth.

What is noteworthy is that Maxfield used only four colors in his work - blue, lilac, yellow and black. By combining them and using varnish as a separating layer, I achieved that deep realism with neat inclusions of magic that still lives in our world. One of the shades of blue is named after the artist - Parrish blue.
