Max Zorn and his amazing paintings made from simple brown tape (22 photos + 1 video)
Max Zorn is a street artist from Amsterdam who works in an unusual tape art technique. Its main material is not paint, but brown adhesive packaging tape. Applying it in layers on plexiglass and skillfully cutting off all excess with a scalpel, the artist creates unique paintings in the noir style. Then he illuminates them from the back - and the result is simply breathtaking!
Max Zorn's works decorated the streets of Amsterdam, Madrid, Lisbon and other European cities.
They look like old sepia-toned photographs or still frames from classic American films. I can’t even believe that all this was made from ordinary stationery tape.

By playing with different shades of brown I create scenes and portraits. To shape the layers, I use a scalpel or X-Acto knife. Well, the final touch is the backlight.
How exactly and why did he come up with this idea?
There's a lot of great street art during the day, but it disappears after dark. I wanted to come up with urban art that used nighttime as a setting, and there was nothing more eye-catching than the street lights in Amsterdam.
It is simply amazing how such a seemingly simple idea and such ordinary materials in the hands of an artist turn into works of art.
