Soulful, warm paintings by Grigory Leontyevich Chainikov (1960-2008)
Artist Grigory Leontievich Chainikov was born on November 28, 1960 in the village of Grakhovo, Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
After graduating from Voloshskaya secondary school in 1976, he entered the Udmurt State University (art and graphic department).
However, he soon transferred to the Surikov Art Institute, where he studied in the workshop of Professor V.G. Tsyplakova.
After graduating from the institute in 1987, he worked at the Repin House of Creativity.
In 1988 he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
In 1988-1991 he worked in the Creative Workshops of the Russian Academy of Arts under the direction of A.P. and S.P. Tkachev.
Since 1987, he has been an active participant in republican and all-Union exhibitions, and has exhibited abroad. In 2001, the artist Grigory Leontyevich Chainikov became a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts, and was soon awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Udmurt Republic.
Awarded the Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts.
In 2007 he was awarded the Russian Art Gallery Prize. And literally a year later the artist passed away: he died before his 49th birthday.
