RITSUO SUGIYAMA / Ritsuo Sugiyama
Born in Kasugai City, Aichi Province, Japan. In his youth, Ritsuo traveled extensively throughout Mexico. After this, he began painting while studying at the University of Veracruz and collecting butterflies and worn-out replicas of ruins. In 1970 he returned to Japan, but very soon went to Spain to study at the University of Valencia. Now he is enjoying his original world "SUMI". In 1991, Ritsuo received the Cultural Merit Prize from the city of Kasugai. He is a member of the Hakushikai (Japanese Painting Association) and a part-time teacher at Nanzan University. Ritsuo enjoys doing cultural exchanges with International Students using his paintings.
