Austrian artist Eduard Charlemont (1848–1906) (20 works)
Eduard Charlemont was born in Vienna, the capital of the Austrian Empire in 1848. His father, Matthias Adolf Charlemont, was also an artist, specializing in painting miniature portraits. His younger brother Hugo Charlemont (1850-1939) was an equally famous impressionist artist. At the age of fifteen, Eduard Charlemont exhibited his work at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where he studied painting.
After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts, Charlemont traveled to many countries in Central Europe and settled in Paris, where he lived for the next thirty years. Several times he won first prizes at the Paris Salon at the annual exhibitions held by the French Academy of Fine Arts.
Died in 1906.
