Alexey Butyrsky was born in Moscow in 1974. Graduated with honors from the Moscow Art College. In 1998 he became a student at the Russian Academy of Arts. Since 1996, Butyrsky has participated in more than 10 exhibitions, including solo exhibitions, and auctions in Russia and England, and in 25 exhibitions held in the United States. Currently, Alexander’s favorite theme has become urban landscapes, which he paints in a realistic manner, depicting the everyday life of the city without pathos or embellishment. The strength and intensity of the play of light and shadow is the main expressive means of his works. They are somewhat reminiscent of the paintings of Claude Lorran and Caravaggio with their inner glow and masterly use of chiaroscuro. The sophistication and skill with which Butyrsky depicts architectural objects in his works, his sense of color and form, are more characteristic of older generation masters. Thanks to his talent, he rightfully belongs to the elite of contemporary Russian artists. His works are a huge success and can be seen in the most prestigious galleries and private collections in France, England, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Russia and the USA.
